I am writing to urge you to support H.R.2550, the Protect America’s Workforce Act to reverse the devastating impacts of recent executive actions targeting both Native communities and the federal employees who serve them.
Under the Trump administration, thousands of dedicated federal employees were laid off from critical agencies like the Bureau of Indian Affairs, the Bureau of Indian Education, and the Office of Tribal Justice. These are not abstract cuts—they directly undermined treaty responsibilities and weakened Native communities’ access to healthcare, education, and land stewardship.
The administration didn’t stop there. Tribal oversight was stripped from key departments, further eroding Native sovereignty. Now, a sweeping executive order has stripped collective bargaining rights from workers at 30 federal agencies—many of the same public servants who support Tribal Nations every day.
This is not only an attack on labor rights; it is a continuation of systemic efforts to weaken Indigenous self-determination and the public institutions that uphold it.
You have the power to stand on the right side of history. Please support and publicly champion the Protect America’s Workforce Act to reverse these harmful policies and protect both Native sovereignty and workers’ rights.
