Support for Strengthening and Securing the USPS for the Future

45 so far! Let’s get to 50 signers!

I’m writing to express my deep support for the United States Postal Service and to urge you to champion bold, forward-thinking policies that ensure its continued role as a vital public institution in American life. As you know, the USPS is more than a delivery service—it’s a constitutional mandate, a lifeline for rural and underserved communities, a hub of civic connection, and a reliable presence in an increasingly unstable world. The Postal Service connects us to each other, regardless of income, geography, or ideology. Its workers are the quiet heroes who show up—through storms, pandemics, and political upheaval—to serve every address in this country. Unfortunately, the USPS continues to face structural barriers that undermine its effectiveness. These aren’t the result of mismanagement or lack of demand, but rather decades of manufactured constraints. I urge you to support efforts to: • Correct the unfair pension and retiree health benefit obligations that have cost the Postal Service billions, draining resources from where they are most needed. • Reform investment strategies for the USPS Retiree Health Benefits Fund to allow more substantial returns and long-term solvency. • Authorize new public services such as postal banking, hunting and fishing license sales, and even public WiFi hotspots—services that can help sustain the Postal Service financially while fulfilling vital community needs. • Protect and expand mail-in voting infrastructure, ensuring that the USPS can continue to support accessible, secure, and non-partisan democratic participation across all states. This is not just about saving the Postal Service—it’s about reimagining it as a modern institution that continues to serve everyone with dignity, reliability, and fairness. In a time when so many institutions are being dismantled or privatized, we must do everything we can to protect the USPS and empower it to thrive. I know you are facing an overwhelming tide of challenges, many of them stemming from efforts to weaken public trust and dismantle our shared systems. But I want you to know that you are not alone. There are millions of us who believe in public service, democracy, and the quiet strength of the USPS. We’re counting on you to help lead the charge. Thank you for your continued work and your service to our country.
