For nearly two years, Palestinians, human rights experts, and constituents like me have been telling you what is happening in Gaza: Israel is committing genocide. You dismissed it, downplayed it, or delayed action. Now the United Nations Independent International Commission of Inquiry has issued its formal legal analysis (A/HRC/60/CRP.3, Sept. 16, 2025). The evidence is irrefutable:
• Mass killings: Over 60,000 Palestinians killed—including 18,430 children and 9,735 women. Life expectancy in Gaza has collapsed by nearly 35 years in a single year of war. Civilians slaughtered in homes, hospitals, schools, evacuation routes, and food lines. UN-confirmed figures show 83% of those killed were civilians.
• Severe bodily and mental harm: 146,000+ injured, with thousands of children losing limbs. Gaza is now home to the largest population of child amputees in modern history. Survivors endure torture, sexual violence, and trauma so widespread it will scar generations.
• Deliberate destruction of life-sustaining systems: Israel systematically destroyed and blocked access to food, water, hospitals, and medicine. Starvation was weaponized—Palestinians were shot while trying to collect food.
• Prevention of births: Attacks on pregnant women, maternity wards, and reproductive health systems show intent to destroy Palestinian reproductive capacity.
• Genocidal intent: Israeli officials publicly called for annihilation. The Commission found Israel acted with the specific intent to destroy the Palestinian people in Gaza—meeting the legal definition of genocide.
The Commission concludes that Israel has committed genocide. Under the Genocide Convention, the U.S. is legally bound to prevent and punish it—not enable it. Yet for two years, you have voted for weapons, for funding, for political cover. For two years, we’ve been warning you. And for two years, you have failed.
So I ask you: what will it take for you to listen? How many more children must be killed, starved, or maimed before you take meaningful action? When will you stop enabling genocide and fulfill your duty to prevent it?
It is not enough to wring your hands while continuing to arm Israel. Every dollar and every weapon you approve makes you complicit. The only credible course is immediate action: cut off military aid, impose sanctions, and back international accountability through the ICC and ICJ.
History will not absolve those who stood by, excused, or armed a genocide. We’ve been telling you for two years. When will you finally act?
