Millions of Americans are now being used as pawns in a political stunt that has gone too far. The Trump regime's USDA has announced it will not use the $6 billion already in reserve to fund the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), even as more than 42 million Americans face the loss of food benefits.
This is not an oversight—it’s a choice. The USDA’s own September plan said those funds were available to ensure SNAP could continue during a shutdown. Now, they’ve reversed course, refusing to act while posting partisan attacks on their website blaming “Senate Democrats” for the crisis. Even states willing to use their own resources to feed hungry families have been told they will not be reimbursed.
The American people know what’s happening. Republicans engineered this shutdown to hold the country hostage—just as health premiums are spiking—hoping to force Democrats to cave on unrelated political demands. Meanwhile, the same administration that “can’t afford” to feed hungry children found $20 billion to prop up a foreign ally.
SNAP isn’t a handout—it’s an economic lifeline. It supports grocers, farmers, and small businesses in every district, urban and rural alike. Eight percent of all U.S. food purchases rely on SNAP dollars. When benefits stop, grocery shelves empty, jobs are lost, and local economies collapse.
We see through the lies. Republicans claim Democrats “refuse to fund” the program even as they block the USDA from using funds Congress already approved. That’s not fiscal conservatism—it’s cruelty disguised as policy.
Congress must act immediately to end the shutdown, restore SNAP, and investigate the misuse of government resources for partisan propaganda. The American people will remember who chose hunger over humanity.
