Resistbot Petition: NO judgeship for BOVE. Censure Grassley. Stop undermining correct process
An open letter to the U.S. Senate

NO judgeship for BOVE. Censure Grassley. Stop undermining correct process

699 so far! Let’s get to 1,000 signers!

It's time to see if Senator Collins has any integrity to uphold her longstanding commitment to regular order. All other senators should do no less. What happened yesterday in the Senate Judiciary hearing about Emil Bove's nomination for a judgeship is an assault on democracy itself. If you all don't follow your own rules in the senate, will you follow any law? If Grassley had attacked our institutions buildings with explosives and a sledge hammer he would have demonstrated the same shocking contempt that he did by refusing to hold a proper hearing on Bove. To refuse to hear objections ought to make the committee vote invalid. The full senate should REFUSE to vote on any nominee who did not undergo regular committee process. That's not a partisan issue. You are surely aware that more than 900 former DOJ employees signed a letter to say that Bove was unfit? You know that Bove openly scoffed the law saying "f - " to it and then lied about that in a hearing? Such a man has no place even being considered for a judgeship. He should be disbarred. No committee chair who subverts deliberative process and destroys the rules and norms of senate should remain in that chair. No nominee who is advanced by irregular process should even be considered. I am counting on you to VOTE NO on Bove and also in every possible way to insist on regular order. Please throw a wrench in the works no: NO MORE UNANIMOUS CONSENT. Demand ROLL CALLS. Stop this unfolding catastrophe now.
