Reject Trump Regime's amoral and fiscally irresponsible murder budget
The current budget proposal before Congress is an assault on two fronts: it is nothing short of a devastating assault on the well-being of ordinary Americans, and it is a reckless giveaway to corporations and the wealthy that will explode the deficit by $1.5 trillion over the next decade. Donald Trump yelled at congressmen today that they shouldn’t “f*ck around with Medicaid.” We all have to be very clear the MAGA murder budget does plenty of “f*cking around” with this crucial health program, and 7.6 million middle-income and working Americans are set to “find out” and become uninsured to pay for tax cuts for billionaires. The worst price will be paid by children and seniors in nursing homes who rely on this program. And that’s just the beginning – in total 14 million people will lose health insurance coverage under the MAGA murder budget. Equally alarming is the defunding of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, an agency designed to shield consumers from predatory financial practices. This move leaves millions vulnerable to exploitation by unscrupulous corporations. Moreover, the proposal callously rolls back the Inflation Reduction Act's crucial climate initiatives, a reckless disregard for the urgent need to address the existential threat of climate change. Further compounding the harm, draconian cuts to SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) threaten to deprive millions of low-income families and individuals of basic food security, exacerbating poverty and hunger. The partisan attack on federal regulations is yet another misguided effort that endangers public health, safety, and environmental protections that safeguard us all. Perhaps most egregiously, the proposed measures seek to undermine the judiciary's ability to hold the previous administration accountable for its transgressions, subverting the very foundations of our system of checks and balances. This fiscally irresponsible proposal provides minimal relief to middle-class families while overwhelmingly benefiting the top 1% of earners. It's a brazen attempt to enrich donors and special interests at the expense of hard-working Americans. According to the non-partisan Tax Policy Center, around 50% of the plan's benefits go to the top 5% of taxpayers. The richest 1% alone receive a windfall tax cut worth over $61 billion in 2018. Meanwhile, nearly 30% of middle-class Americans would face a tax increase by 2027. Corporate tax rates would plummet from 35% to 20%, adding over $1 trillion to deficits over a decade with no guarantees employers will use the windfalls to create jobs or raise wages as supporters claim. History shows corporations are far more likely to buy back shares and increase executive compensation. Congress must reject this indefensible giveaway that balloons deficits while failing most Americans.
