You Can’t Promote Peace While Arming UAE - Support JRDs Now
I am writing as a concerned constituent to urge you to support the joint resolutions of disapproval—H.J. Res. 96 & 97 and S.J. Res. 51 & 54—aimed at blocking the proposed arms sales to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). These resolutions are critical in upholding the United States’ commitment to human rights and preventing further destabilization in regions affected by conflict. Recent reports have highlighted the UAE’s alleged involvement in supplying weapons to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Sudan, a group accused of committing serious human rights violations, including war crimes and crimes against humanity. Continuing arms sales to the UAE under these circumstances would not only contradict our nation’s values but also risk implicating the United States in these atrocities. Furthermore, the proposed arms deals, totaling over $1.6 billion, include advanced military equipment that could exacerbate conflicts in the Middle East and North Africa. It is imperative that we reassess our foreign military sales to ensure they do not contribute to ongoing human suffering or undermine international peace efforts. By supporting H.J. Res. 226 and S.J. Res. 118, you will affirm the United States’ dedication to ethical foreign policy and the protection of human rights. I respectfully urge you to vote in favor of these resolutions and to advocate for a thorough review of our arms export policies. Thank you for your attention to this pressing matter. I look forward to your response and to seeing your leadership in promoting peace and human rights on the global stage.
