The order's vague language about "acknowledging uncertainties" could be weaponized to discredit well-established scientific consensus around issues like climate change. Expert researchers could face punishment simply for communicating scientific facts if those facts are deemed politically inconvenient by those in power. This goes against core principles of academic freedom and open scientific inquiry.
Furthermore, revoking the Biden administration's policies that insulated government scientists from undue political influence is a massive step backwards. Those policies were put in place precisely to maintain scientific integrity and public trust after repeated instances of Trump regime officials sidelining and censoring researchers whose work conflicted with their deregulatory agenda.
Congress must forcefully denounce this executive order as an unacceptable overreach that will undermine American leadership in science and technology. Allowing any administration to arbitrarily dismiss expert consensus and well-established research threatens public health, environmental protections, technological innovation, and US national interests.
