The company is run by the husband of Noem's chief DHS spokesperson and has personal and business ties to Noem and her aides. DHS invoked the "emergency" at the border to skirt competitive bidding rules for the taxpayer-funded campaign."
Sounds corrupt to me.
Why should an invented emergency allow any public servant to circumvent competitive bidding?
The amount Noem is spending on ads of unproven usefulness is eye watering.
Again, per pro Publica:

We have had enough of fake emergencies, bigotry, and expensive publicity stunts.
ICE detention centers are violating human rights and human decency. They are also profit-centers of a small number of private firms which coerce detainees to work at slavery-level wages in order to run the concentration camps even while they are paid vast sums by the government.
The companies in question are: CoreCivic and GEO Group, the two largest companies that run U.S. immigration detention centers for ICE. Others include Management and Training Corp, LaSalle Corrections, and Akima Global Services.
Immigration policy is becoming a tool of fascist brutality, illegally violence and destruction of the rule of law. Someday there will be accountability. You need to stop these abuses now by doing your constitutionally assigned duty of oversight on all aspects of DHS and ICE.
Please use all the tools at your disposal to check the financial corruption of ICE and DHS now. Do not enable abuse.
I am also incensed by the cruelty and terrorism perpetrated by ICE against innocent people; they are tearing communities apart and traumatising children. They are ruining many small industries and businesses. They are creating a world of fear hatred and trauma. They are stealing our neighbours. You need to address this silence is compliance make sure to start following the money now and hold perpetrators accountable.
