Demand Noem's resignation for abusing power, violating civil liberties

2,860 so far! Let’s get to 3,000 signers!

Kristi Noem's appalling record as Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security displays a disturbing disdain for constitutional rights and due process. Her ignorant and unconstitutional definition of habeas corpus reveals a lack of basic knowledge unacceptable for such a powerful position.   Under her leadership, DHS has illegally detained and deported verified U.S. citizens, violating their fundamental rights. The violent removal unlawful detainment of Senator Alex Padilla during Noem's press conference shows her authoritarian mindset. Her stated intent to indefinitely occupy Los Angeles, labeled as "liberating the city," evokes dystopian imagery of martial law clamping down on free speech and assembly. Noem's brazen call for military forces against protestors is a tyrannical overstep, and her promise to use heavy-handed LA sweeps as a "blueprint" for other communities should alarm all Americans.   With her profound disregard for civil liberties, cruelty towards immigrants, ignorance of constitutional law, and escalation of violence against citizens, Kristi Noem has proven herself patently unfit for this critical role. I demand Noem face rigorous congressional hearings into these abuses of power and civil rights violations. Ultimately, her resignation is a necessity to preserve American democracy and human rights. Noem's dereliction of duty necessitates her immediate removal from leadership of the Department of Homeland Security.
