Medicaid is not a handout. It is a life-saving program that serves millions of Americans—people with disabilities, people in marginalized communities, people who are unable to work or simply struggling to make ends meet. There is no justification for the wealthiest country in the world to abandon the people who are its backbone.
Yet here we are. While Congress continues to rubber-stamp the most bloated military budget on Earth, benefits for the most vulnerable are slashed without hesitation. This isn’t just negligence—it’s criminal.
And let’s be clear: this is not the fault of one party. It’s bipartisan failure. Members of Congress on both sides of the aisle have voted for budgets that directly support these cuts, or have stood by in silence while the executive branch plunges the country into a constitutional crisis. While students are expelled and arrested for peacefully protesting complicity in genocide, while federal workers are fired in the name of “fiscal responsibility,” and while lifesaving aid is stripped from both domestic and global programs, the Pentagon continues to fail audit after audit—and American-made bombs continue to fall.
Responsibility lies with both the red and the blue. It lies with those who make these policies and those who refuse to fight them. Joe Biden loaded the gun. Donald Trump pulled the trigger.
There are no excuses left. You are either defending the rights and survival of disabled, poor, and unhoused Americans—or you are complicit in their abandonment.
We vote. And we will remember.
