Resistbot Petition: Israel is Carrying Out Terrorism in Lebanon. ARMS EMBARGO NOW!
An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Israel is Carrying Out Terrorism in Lebanon. ARMS EMBARGO NOW!

93 so far! Let’s get to 100 signers!

I am writing to demand you take an immediate and strong stand against Israel’s military onslaught on not only Gaza and the West Bank, but recently Lebanon as well. The ongoing attacks, which include the use of explosive devices that violate international law, have escalated tensions in the region and resulted in severe human suffering. According to reports, including a recent statement from the UN, Israel’s actions have blatantly violated international law, contributing to a cycle of violence that puts countless lives at risk. The destruction and harm being inflicted upon Lebanese civilians, coupled with Israel’s refusal to adhere to international humanitarian standards, demand your immediate attention and condemnation. As former Defense Secretary Leon Panetta has pointed out, Israel’s aggressive tactics in Lebanon are “terrorism,” and are escalating regional tensions and destabilizing efforts for peace. The United States cannot continue to be complicit in allowing these actions to go unchecked. Our silence and continuation of military support signals approval of ongoing violations of international law and human rights. I demand all resources of our country and its tax payers be withheld from supporting Israel.  Sanctions and an Arms Embargo must be placed on Israel immediately. Congress must demand accountability and ensure that international law is upheld to prevent further destabilization and loss of life in the region. You must act swiftly and decisively to stand up for the people of Lebanon and Palestine and end US support for these violent and illegal actions.
