I am outraged by the Trump administration’s reckless bombing of multiple Venezuelan civilian vessels—attacks carried out with no evidence of threat to the United States and no legal justification. These were extra-judicial killings and clear violations of international law.
Congress must not stand by while the executive branch usurps its constitutional war powers. You have both the duty and the authority to halt this dangerous escalation before it drags us into another unlawful war in Latin America.
That is why I am demanding that you cosponsor and actively support Rep. Ilhan Omar’s War Powers Resolution—along with its Senate companion introduced by Senator Adam Schiff. This resolution is the only concrete path forward to reassert Congress’s constitutional role and to prevent further U.S. military aggression against Venezuela and the region.
Failure to act now will not only embolden further lawless strikes but also set a precedent that the U.S. president can unilaterally launch attacks anywhere, anytime, against anyone. This puts American lives at risk and destabilizes the entire hemisphere.
I demand you denounce these unlawful attacks, oppose any further intimidation or escalation toward Venezuela, and immediately cosponsor Omar’s War Powers Resolution to restore congressional oversight and stop Trump’s reckless warmaking.
