Resistbot Petition: Rein in ICE now. Require ID & NO MASKS. Call out HHS lies. DO OVERSIGHT
An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Rein in ICE now. Require ID & NO MASKS. Call out HHS lies. DO OVERSIGHT

891 so far! Let’s get to 1,000 signers!

ICE has become a lawless secret police that can violate the constitution and kidnap people because of their political opinions or their apparent origins. It's time to rein in these abuses. Please: Introduce legislation to require ICE agents to wear official ID at all times; forbid them from concealing their faces with masks, hats, or gaiters. Please: Call out the lies by HHS which falsely said that members of Congress had illegally entered an ICE facility. This is false. It is a lie about the events; it shows that HHS is ignorant of the law. Eventually ICE must be dissolved and a legally constituted law abiding system of enforcement established in its place. Surely you are aware that the Appropriations Act of 2020 gives members of Congress a statutory right to enter an ICE facility any time without notice. It appears that HHS and the ICE Newark staff are ignorant of that law. Please make public statements to counter the lies and ignorance of the law of HHS and ICE. HHS should not be using its taxpayer funding to post LIES on its website. Please do oversight to expose all involved in the decision to disseminate these lies. Do you want the US to be a state where a secret police force operates outside the law and snatches people for political disagreements? That is what is happening. This situation is profoundly antithetical to all the guarantees of the constitution. DO YOUR JOB. UPHOLD and DEFEND the Constitution.
