State officials must resist the Trump regime's expansion of terrorist ICE

7,039 so far! Let’s get to 10,000 signers!

With the passage of H.R. 1, the Republican-led Congress has provided Donald Trump and Stephen Miller with $171 billion to dramatically escalate mass deportation operations, including $45 billion for immigration detention centers and $30 billion to hire more ICE agents and expand transportation networks. This represents an unprecedented increase in funding for ICE that exceeds the total immigration enforcement budgets of previous administrations combined. As a result, we can expect to see more ICE raids targeting essential workers and other non-criminal immigrants in communities across the nation. These raids often involve masked officers using excessive force, as well as impersonators further spreading fear and chaos. Moreover, the new funding will allow for the expansion of inhumane concentration camp-like facilities such as the "Alligator Alcatraz" complex built on swamplands in Florida. Crucially, this federal crackdown relies heavily on cooperation from state and local law enforcement, incentivized by $14 billion in grants. You must use every power at your disposal to oppose ICE operations, protect your constituents, and stand as a bulwark against this authoritarian overreach. Deny all cooperation with federal agents, forbid local law enforcement from abetting such abuses, and publicly condemn these atrocities in the strongest terms. The American people demand moral leadership in the face of this humanitarian crisis manufactured by xenophobic extremists. Inaction is complicity - the time to act is now.
