As we celebrate International Women’s Day, I want to take this opportunity to urge you to continue advocating for policies that protect and empower women in our country. While progress has been made, we still face significant challenges in ensuring full equality for women, and I am deeply concerned about the possibility of backsliding on hard-won rights.
Women’s economic security, reproductive freedom, safety, and representation in leadership must remain top priorities. I urge you to support legislation that:
• Protects and strengthens reproductive rights so that every woman has the ability to make personal healthcare decisions without government interference.
• Advances equal pay by closing the gender wage gap and ensuring salary transparency.
• Expands parental leave and childcare support, making it easier for working families to thrive.
• Combats gender-based violence by supporting measures that strengthen protections for survivors and hold perpetrators accountable.
• Upholds and strengthens the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA), affirming that gender equality is a constitutional right.
• Promotes women’s leadership and representation at all levels of government and industry to ensure diverse voices shape our policies and future.
Equality for women is not just about fairness—it is about the prosperity and well-being of our entire nation. I urge you to take action, introduce and support policies that protect women’s rights, and ensure that we continue moving forward rather than slipping backward.
On this International Women’s Day, I hope you will recommit to the fight for gender equality. Please let me know what steps you are currently taking or plan to take to support these priorities.
