Vote no on Protection of Women and Girls Sports Act
The Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act is a harmful piece of legislation that discriminates against transgender and intersex athletes. It threatens to subject all women and girls to invasive questioning and traumatic genital examinations, putting them at increased risk of harassment and violence. This bill does nothing to actually protect the safety of young female athletes, but instead serves to marginalize and dehumanize transgender individuals. We must reject this legislation and instead work towards creating an inclusive environment in sports that values and uplifts all athletes regardless of gender identity or expression. Transgender athletes deserve the same opportunities and protections as their cisgender peers. Denying them the ability to participate in sports aligned with their gender is a violation of their civil rights and human dignity. I urge you to vote against S.9 and stand up for the rights of transgender and intersex students. An affirmative vote on this bill would further institutionalize discrimination and promote harmful stereotypes. We must prioritize the wellbeing and equal treatment of all young people in our society.
