Shuttering USAID is causing deaths. It's not just unconstitutional impoundment of appropriated funds: it's also depraved heart murder. USAID prevents deaths by vaccine programs, by distributing tuberculosis treatment and AIDS medicines. Withdrawing the funds for those programs causes preventable deaths. Consider this research from Boston University: "According to the World Health Organization, the USAID programs averted about 3.65 million deaths in the last year alone. With help from the United Nations Stop TB Partnership organization and Avenir Health, Nichols showed that there will be an additional death from TB every. seven minutes. As of writing this article, the team estimates that over 10,000 people have died because of the USAID funding cuts." Trump will terminate USAID financial support for Gavi, the organization that purchased critical vaccines for children in developing countries, saving millions of lives over the past 25 years, and cutting back efforts to combat malaria, one of the biggest killers globally. As a member of Congress who is permitting these cuts, you are implicated in them. It's time for Congress to check these unlawful unconstitutional blocks to USAID. Use the Appropriations committees in both chambers for oversight. Make criminal referrals. Impeach Trump. No more business as usual. No more nominees, no unanimous consent in the senate. In the house, invoke Rule IX for a floor vote on impeachment
