I'm writing to you as a constituent who is heartbroken and deeply alarmed by the ongoing erosion of our democracy. I never imagined I would feel this level of despair for the future of our country, but here I am-grappling with the very real fear that we may not survive another Trump presidency. And yet, I still believe that our democratic institutions can work-if we fight for them. That's why I'm writing to ask you to fight harder than ever.
We cannot afford DOGE.
Every action taken under this so-called project is not only unlawful and unconstitutional—it is, by many accounts, a direct violation of criminal statutes and Congressional authority. The DOGE cuts violate the Appropriations Clause, the Appointments Clause, and the President's duty to "take care that the laws be faithfully executed."
The failure to disburse funds legally appropriated by Congress is a blatant violation of the
1974 Impoundment Control Act. Musk, Trump, and their allies have no legal authority to cancel contracts, shutter agencies, or sabotage federal operations. And yet they do. Every day. In plain sight.
An internal IRS report suggests DOGE has already cost the country half a trillion dollars in tax revenue. That's not a policy disagreement. That's economic sabotage.
Every day Congress fails to act, we-the people you represent-are denied our constitutional rights and protections. Every day Congress stays silent, it cedes power to a lawless executive and unelected oligarchs.
So l am calling on you to:
- Stop DOGE.
- Subpoena Elon Musk.
- Impeach Donald Trump.
I know the odds are steep. I know the Republicans hold power in the House and the Senate and that some Democrats are not only reluctant to speak up, but actually contribute to the chaos. That doesn't mean we stop fighting. I've seen your videos. I know you're fighting, but we must keep going—for as long as we possibly can. Please, use every tool at your disposal-and even invent new tools if need be—to slow this descent, to shine a light on corruption, and to uphold the oath you took to defend the Constitution.
