Hold hearings, then rein in, DOGE. Vandalism to agency services wrecks lives
Recently agents from the so-called "DOGE" entered the US Institute of Peace (USIP) and dismantled and destroyed features in the lobby. This is vandalism. But USIP is not a federal agency; it, not the government, owns the building. Judges have already ruled against many of Doge's administrative actions, finding them illegal or unconstitutional. This most recent criminal damage should be referred to Law Enforcement. Relevant committees in Congress need to stop Doge's illegal firings, shutterings, and data breaches. Vandalism to a building is easier to see and repair than the other elements of DOGE's unconstitutional rampage. It's time for CONGRESS to do oversight. Please ask the relevant committee to call in Musk, Gleason, and all DOGE staff to answer questions under oath in public hearings. Use subpoena power. Investigate, expose, make judicial and criminal referrals. If all of the Trump-Musk-Doge actions were as easily visible as a vandalised lobby, perhaps you would have taken action sooner. But slashing veterans services, social security phone lines, food safety testing and so much else is just as much vandalism as trashing a lobby. And it will bring chaos and suffering to so many more people. Doge is a chaos-bringing agent of a coup; its cost saving justification is false. Do your job. Have Congress use its powers.
