Israel's withholding of essential aid and disproportionate military escalation are depriving millions of Palestinian civilians of their most basic human rights and dignity. Children are starving, families lack access to food, water and medicine as this unconscionable situation deteriorates daily. As a nation upholding democratic values, the United States has a moral obligation to forcefully condemn these atrocities and take concrete steps to protect innocent Palestinian lives.
Starvation cannot be used as a tactic of war, and the oppression of an entire population is never justified. Congress must urgently leverage its considerable influence to compel Israel to immediately cease its brutal assault, lift all restrictions on humanitarian aid flows, and work toward a just and lasting peace that ensures the rights and security of both Israelis and Palestinians.
Failing to prioritize human lives over politics will irreparably stain America's credibility on human rights. The American people demand their representatives take action to end this catastrophe and enforce respect for the inalienable rights to life, dignity and self-determination. The killing, oppression and deprivation of the Palestinian people in Gaza must stop now.
