Oppose the NDAA’s Extremist Middle East/Israel Amendments — Strip Them All
Enough. The FY26 NDAA has been hijacked with cynical, speech-policing, impunity-shielding amendments that have nothing to do with “defense” and everything to do with protecting war crimes, criminalizing dissent, and shoveling more weapons into a genocide. I expect you to vote NO on each of the following House amendments and work to strip them in conference. (I name them explicitly so there’s no wiggle room.) Vote NO on Amdt #1 (Rule #150) — Gottheimer/Tenney: pressure allies not to enforce ICC warrants against U.S./allied troops. This is contempt for international law and a green light for impunity. Vote NO on Amdt #2 (Rule #844) — Ogles: boycott international defense exhibitions that limit Israeli participation. It’s using U.S. muscle to punish others for minimal accountability. Vote NO on Amdt #3 (Rule #1022) — Boebert: ban DOD contracts with entities that boycott Israel (including settlements). A blatant attack on protected political boycotts and compelled complicity in abuses. Vote NO on Amdt #4 (Rule #542) — Steube: briefings to hustle aircraft/munitions to Israel. More bombs for mass civilian harm is not “defense;” it’s complicity. Vote NO on Amdt #137 (Rule #683) — Gonzales: create an “Operation Midnight Hammer Medal” for the 2025 Iran–Israel conflict. Handing out medals to launder reckless escalation is grotesque. Vote NO on Amdt #140 (Rule #265) — Gosar: Tower 22 records “disclosure.” Not transparency—just a political cudgel while Congress fuels policies endangering U.S. troops. Vote NO on Amdt #143 (Rule #548) — Gottheimer: Gaza–Egypt border/tunnel “study.” Another surveillance/containment shovel for collective punishment while aid is strangled. Vote NO on Amdt #222 (Rule #929) — Nunn: CENTCOM missile defense report centered on expanding Iron Dome/David’s Sling/Iron Beam. It’s a roadmap to bankroll indefinite occupation and siege. Only exception to preserve: Amdt #34 (Rule #806) — bipartisan repeal of the 1991 & 2002 AUMFs. Congress—not presidents—holds war powers. Keep this repeal intact; everything else must go. The House jammed dozens of these into en bloc votes and passed the bill (231–196). Media cheered “anti-BDS” gimmicks and more Israel-first carve-outs. You are not obligated to rubber-stamp. Strip these amendments. Restore constitutional guardrails. Stop funding crimes. The U.S. cannot keep underwriting famine, displacement, and a two-tier legal order with blank checks and rider-bait. I demand—not “urge”—a public commitment to: 1. Vote NO on Amdts #1, #2, #3, #4, #137, #140, #143, #222; 2. Strip them in conference; 3. Protect the clean repeal of the 1991/2002 AUMFs (#34); 4. Reject any NDAA with these riders. If you enable this censorship, impunity, and weapons-through-genocide machine, you own it. I will treat your vote accordingly.
