I urge you to support Assembly member Ting’s AB 2178 bill. AB 2178 can help save necessary social spending while cutting wasteful prison spending. It creates a structured approach to managing unused infrastructure and resources in California State Prisons that are currently eating up public funds that should be saved to avoid cuts to social services that keep people safe – programs that should be expanded. Education, living wages, housing, healthcare, and other public goods are what keep us safe.
