Thank You for Defending Judicial Independence—Please Keep Fighting
I’m writing to thank you for your continued efforts to uphold the values and institutions that protect our democracy. Like many of your constituents, I’m deeply concerned about recent attempts by certain members of Congress to undermine the independence of the judiciary through threats of impeachment and other retaliatory tactics aimed at judges who issue lawful rulings. These actions strike at the very heart of our constitutional system. The judiciary was never meant to bend to political pressure. District court judges who issue nationwide injunctions are not overreaching—they are fulfilling their duty to interpret the law and act as a vital check on executive power. Efforts to intimidate or punish them for doing so are not just inappropriate; they are dangerous. The appeals process exists for a reason. Disagreeing with a ruling is not grounds for dismantling the foundation of our legal system. The separation of powers and the rule of law are not partisan issues—they are essential to protecting the rights and freedoms of every American. Please know that your work to push back against these injustices matters. It is seen, it is appreciated, and it is urgently needed. We are depending on your courage and integrity to stand firm in defense of our democratic principles, especially in the face of coordinated attempts to erode them.
