I am asking Congress to take decisive action to protect federal law enforcement and national security from extremist infiltration. Recent reports indicate that individuals affiliated with violent groups like the Proud Boys may have entered agencies such as ICE and Border Patrol during the administration’s mass recruitment drive. That poses a clear risk to the integrity and reputation of our federal institutions.
This issue is not about party or ideology — it’s about loyalty, professionalism, and the rule of law. The Department of Homeland Security recently deleted a Border Patrol promotional video that used a song containing antisemitic slurs. DHS brushed it off as a “non-issue,” but the American people expect higher standards from those sworn to defend the nation.
In addition, leaked messages from national Young Republicans leaders included racist comments and praise for Hitler, and a congressional staffer was photographed with a swastika-emblazoned flag. Whether these incidents were acts of ignorance or intent, they show how extremist symbols and rhetoric have crept too close to government.
Congress must:
1. Direct Inspectors General at DHS, ICE, and CBP to review hiring, background checks, and online activity screening.
2. Mandate re-vetting for staff in sensitive roles to ensure no extremist ties.
3. Hold bipartisan hearings to reaffirm zero tolerance for hate-based ideology within any federal department.
Patriotism means defending the Constitution and the people it protects — not aligning with those who threaten them. Extremists don’t belong in our law enforcement ranks. Please act now to restore integrity and public confidence in these agencies.
