H.R. 740, the so-called Veterans Access Act, threatens to dismantle the VHA by limiting choices, decreasing coverage, and reducing access to care for veterans, especially in rural areas. Instead of improving healthcare as claimed, this legislation aligns with efforts to transform the VHA into an insurer rather than a provider, diverting federal funds to the private sector. As the largest integrated health system in the country employing nearly 450,000 people, protecting the VHA is crucial for ensuring comprehensive care for those who have served our nation. I urge you to oppose H.R. 740 and any measures that undermine this vital healthcare resource for our veterans.
