Israel's systematic obstruction of humanitarian aid reaching Gaza is unconscionable and must be condemned in the strongest terms. With 83% of required food aid being blocked from entering due to Israel's blockade, the people of Gaza are facing acute famine and deprivation on an unimaginable scale. This is not a one-off crisis but a protracted and deliberate policy of starvation being inflicted on a densely populated civilian territory. The reports of people in Gaza surviving on just one meal every other day, with over 50,000 children at risk of malnutrition, should shock the conscience of the world. Israel's blockade has devastated the humanitarian situation to such a catastrophic level that immediate intervention is imperative to avert mass starvation and loss of innocent lives. In light of these gross violations of human rights and infringements on human dignity, it is critical that an arms embargo be imposed on Israel to cut off the supply fueling its brutal military occupation. Simultaneously, financial support to UNRWA, the United Nations agency providing vital aid to Palestinian refugees, must be reinstated. The world cannot stand by amid such a severe, man-made famine. Israel's unrelenting assault on the people in Gaza demands decisive action and accountability.
