Keep guns away from abusive dating partners in VAWA!
As your constituent, I urge you to support including the life-saving provisions that keep guns away from abusive dating partners in the reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA). We can take an important step towards reducing gun violence in America by ensuring that provisions that protect women from gun violence are part of the Senate Violence Against Women Act reauthorization bill—like the bipartisan House VAWA reauthorization bill that passed last year. When a gun is present in a domestic violence situation, it's five times more likely that the woman will be killed by her abusive partner. And intimate partner homicides are as likely to be committed by dating partners as by spouses. Now's the time to address the deadly loopholes in federal law that let violent dating partners get their hands on guns. This is so important. Please help. Thanks!
