Resistbot Petition: Medicaid Saves Lives—Hands Off, Period
An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Medicaid Saves Lives—Hands Off, Period

592 so far! Let’s get to 1,000 signers!

I am writing with fierce opposition to the proposed $880 billion in Medicaid cuts over the next decade. These cuts are not fiscal reforms—they are a brutal assault on children, seniors, people with disabilities, and working families across America. Let’s be crystal clear: cutting $880 billion from Medicaid will force states to gut eligibility, reduce critical benefits, and abandon the most vulnerable. Millions will lose coverage. Up to 31 million children could be affected. Seniors will lose access to nursing homes. Children with cancer and disabilities will be left without the care they need to survive and grow. What kind of nation do we become if we slash immunizations, mental health care, dental services, developmental screenings, and home-based supports for those who need them most? Medicaid is school-based healthcare. It is cancer treatment. It is the bridge between poverty and stability for millions of families. Cutting it is cruelty in policy form. States would face budget crises, be forced to raise taxes, or sacrifice education and infrastructure. Entire rural hospitals could close. Nearly 550,000 jobs—many in healthcare—could vanish. You are lighting a match and tossing it at the social safety net. Children who lose Medicaid suffer lifelong harm—worse health, missed early interventions, and higher mortality. Adults who lose access to cancer and kidney care face delayed diagnoses, avoidable deaths, and financial ruin. I urge you—do not support these cuts. I will be watching how you vote. Protect our children, our elders, our neighbors with disabilities. Protect Medicaid. Your constituents will not forget.
