I am writing to demand immediate action and accountability regarding Donald Trump’s recent statement advocating for the forced removal of Palestinians from Gaza. His call to “just clean out” Gaza is nothing short of a proposal for ethnic cleansing, a violation of international law and human rights. Such rhetoric should be unequivocally condemned by all who stand for justice and human dignity.
Trump’s words align with a dangerous history of dehumanization that has been used to justify atrocities against marginalized populations. His proposal to forcibly expel Palestinians to neighboring countries like Egypt and Jordan is not only inhumane but also strategically unsound, as both nations have already rejected this idea outright. The United Nations and human rights organizations have rightly called such a move a blatant crime under international law .
Furthermore, I strongly oppose the use of U.S. taxpayer dollars to support any policies or actions that displace Palestinians or perpetuate their suffering. The United States has long enabled the occupation and destruction of Palestinian lands by providing unconditional financial and military aid to Israel. Instead of furthering harm, the U.S. must fulfill its moral obligation to aid the Palestinian people in rebuilding Gaza. This includes restoring infrastructure destroyed by Israeli airstrikes, ensuring access to healthcare, and supporting international accountability for human rights violations.
Leadership demands courage and moral clarity, especially in moments of crisis. As an elected official, you are in a position to act decisively. I urge you to:
1. Publicly condemn Trump’s statement. Such rhetoric emboldens those who perpetrate violence and undermines international norms against ethnic cleansing.
2. End unconditional aid to Israel. Redirect funds toward humanitarian efforts to rebuild Gaza and support Palestinian self-determination.
3. Push for accountability. Advocate for independent investigations into potential war crimes in Gaza under international law.
The world is watching. Will you stand for justice, human rights, and the rule of law, or will you remain silent in the face of such incendiary rhetoric? Now is the time to act decisively and demand accountability.
