Urgent Condemnation of Israel’s Attacks on Southern Lebanon

52 so far! Let’s get to 100 signers!

I am writing to express my deep concern over Israel’s ongoing military attacks in southern Lebanon, which have resulted in civilian deaths, mass displacement, and destruction of homes. These attacks constitute violations of international law and the ceasefire agreement, directly targeting individuals attempting to return to their homes and communities. Such actions demand immediate accountability and a firm stance from global leaders who claim to stand for human rights and justice. The history of colonial violence, displacement, and systemic oppression is not new, and its echoes are felt deeply in Palestine, Lebanon, and beyond . The right to self-determination and sovereignty has been historically denied to colonized peoples, a reality that decolonial scholars and movements have long sought to dismantle . The ongoing aggression against Lebanon and Palestine must be understood within this larger context of colonial expansion and ethnic cleansing. As an elected official, your leadership is critical in upholding international law and ensuring that U.S. foreign policy does not enable war crimes. I urge you to: 1. Publicly condemn Israel’s military aggression in Lebanon and demand an immediate ceasefire. 2. Advocate for independent investigations into the targeting of civilians and violations of international law. 3. Push for the suspension of U.S. military aid that contributes to these human rights violations. 4. Support legislative efforts that ensure accountability for war crimes, regardless of the perpetrator. Silence and complicity in the face of systemic violence perpetuate cycles of injustice . Throughout history, failure to act against such atrocities has only emboldened oppressive regimes. The international community’s inaction during apartheid South Africa, the Rohingya genocide, and the ethnic cleansing of Indigenous peoples in the Americas illustrates how passive tolerance of violence allows these injustices to deepen . The U.S. has historically backed oppressive regimes under the guise of security, ignoring the calls of impacted communities . Now is the time to break from that legacy and stand on the side of human rights, justice, and peace. I look forward to your response and your immediate action on this pressing matter.
