SCOTUS: Defend disability rights and section 504 protections
The right to live free from discrimination based on disability is a fundamental civil right that must be protected. Declaring section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 unconstitutional would gravely undermine the rights and dignity of millions of disabled Americans. This law prohibits the federal government and organizations receiving federal funds from discriminating against individuals with disabilities. Dismantling this vital protection would restrict access to education, healthcare, employment, public services and more for the disability community. Such an alarming precedent could open the door to challenging other cornerstone civil rights laws as well. We cannot allow this to happen. I urge you to vehemently defend section 504 and take a firm stand against any attempts to erode the hard-won rights and liberties of disabled citizens. Preserving these legal safeguards is crucial for an equitable society that values the inherent worth of every individual.
