Protect the Voting Rights Act — Honor John Lewis’s Legacy
I write to demand that Congress act immediately to restore and protect voting rights. Since the Supreme Court gutted the Voting Rights Act in 2013, states have passed laws that make it harder for many Americans to vote. That should concern everyone — left, right, and independent — because when government controls who gets to vote, liberty itself is at risk. The John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act restores the protections that kept our elections free and fair for decades. It requires transparency when states change election laws and prevents politicians from quietly rigging the rules to benefit themselves. Every American, no matter their politics, deserves a system where their vote counts equally. If Congress fails to pass this bill, it hands power to career politicians and unelected bureaucrats who want to decide winners and losers before the people even cast a ballot. That’s not freedom. That’s not America. True patriotism means trusting the people, not manipulating the process. Protecting the right to vote is about faith in our Constitution and in the will of the people. Passing the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act is the only way forward.
