The constitution gives power over appropriations and tariffs to Congress not to the president.
The cuts and firings made by Trump and Musk under the false claims of promoting efficiency savings have been stayed and found to be illegal again and again by the courts.
These cuts are going to ruin our nation; they will cause deaths, destroy are American soft power abroad; they will destroy education and science; they are interrupting the progress on finding cures for devastating conditions like Alzheimer's, glioblastoma and pancreatic cancer.
There is nothing about these illegal cuts that makes life better; there is nothing about these cuts that makes America great again. They bring misery, disease, and the annihilation of the constitution.
I am enraged by the wanton illegal chainsaw massacre that Musk and Doge are carrying out against the arts and sciences, our culture and heritage.
Please: defend the NEH, the NIH, USAID, libraries, public broadcasting, and museums.
Say NO to rescissions.
Say NO to Trump's planned military parade and to the vast unconscionable increase in defence spending.
Scrutinise the plans for the Kennedy Centre:
It had been reported that: "The Trump Admin is canceling arts grants, trying to kill the NEA and NEH, and censoring museum exhibits-while quietly pushing a $256M allocation for the Kennedy Center that is *6 times* what Congress normally appropriates."
Please stop this. Have House and Senate Appropriations Committee hold hearings and do oversight. Insist that Committee chairs investigate, scrutinise, use subpoenas and make criminal and judicial referrals.
Say NO to the distorted Kennedy Center budget and the gargantuan increases.
Protect the arts, the humanities, scientific and medical research, libraries and public broadcasting.
NO rescissions.
If Congress is too cowardly to honor its oath to the constitution and reclaim the usurped power of appropriations, then, until you find the collective ability to honor your oath, please, PROTECT the arts, sciences, humanities, public broadcasting, museums, libraries, and national monuments.
History will record what you did and your grandchildren will know whether you bequeathed them a democracy of culture, arts, sciences and chances for a good life or an authoritarian state of cruelty and fear, prejudice, pollution, deaths from preventable disease, division, bigotry and a true longing to make America great by restoring the rule of the constitution and the values of the era before the Congress fecklessly betrayed their oaths.
