North Carolina’s six 2018 ballot measures cover a wide array of issues from hunting to the judicial appointments process. The Voter ID amendment, however, has the potential to disenfranchise thousands of North Carolinians.

Voter ID Amendment

If passed, the Voter ID Amendment would require that North Carolina voters present a photo-ID when voting.

Impact: Major — A 2017 University of Wisconsin study concluded that between 6% and 9.4% of eligible non-voters failed to vote because they lacked proper ID. That’s more than enough to swing an election.
Support: Republican — Every Democrat in the North Carolina legislature voted against photo-ID requirements.
